Q died shortly after we graduated from UVA, so that would be in '84 or '85.  My understanding is that he fell asleep driving back from DC, where he'd gone to pick up his sister at the airport.  My guess is that, as was his way, he was working too hard and was worn out.

Q was a good friend and I miss him.  We met in Miss Aldridge's Latin class in 10th grade.  He was still getting comfortable with English, so he'd translate the Latin to Korean, and then from Korean to English.  Occasionally I'd help him with the English part of the process, and more often with translations, outside of class, of some of the finer expressions he'd heard in the hallways at Salem High.  In return, he kept me --just barely-- from failing Trig in 11th grade.  (What was the name of that woman who taught us Trig?  I've relegated her name to that corner of my mind where trauma hides.)  I certainly got the better end of the deal with Q.  His tutoring and his friendship were blessings.
